The introduction of alcohol into any situation can drastically change that situation, especially if it is a criminal matter. Sometimes, a perfectly legal action like driving becomes illegal after having a few drinks. This often creates an impression where drinking is acceptable or encouraged, but any mistakes made while intoxicated are treated harshly.
A 31-year-old Gonzales, Louisiana man has been arrested for driving while drunk. According to authorities, he reportedly drove to the police station to file an accident report, where he was then arrested for DUI.
Online records say the suspect was jailed, with bond set at $1,000. No one is certain whether he has an attorney to represent him.
According to a Louisiana state trooper, the suspect called police to say he had been in a hit-and-run accident on Interstate 10. He was told to come to the station to fill out a report. Once he arrived, a trooper immediately smelled alcohol and administered a field sobriety test and a breath test.
Police charged the suspect with driving on a suspended license and first-offense DWI.
