The trial of a North Philadelphia man, Eric Luciano, 34, began recently. Luciano is accused of vehicular homicide that resulted in the death of a Wissinoming woman, Teresa Marquard, 58 on February 24th. According to officials, Luciano lost control of his southbound 1999 Pontiac Montana, when his vehicle veered into oncoming traffic, jumped a curb, onto a sidewalk then struck Marquard who had been walking with her husband before hitting a tree.
According to police reports, the victim, Marquard had seen the vehicle coming. She screamed and pushed her husband out of the path of the oncoming vehicle. Marquard lost consciousness at the scene of the crash and was taken to an area hospital bleeding from her head and legs. She was later pronounced dead by physicians at around 10:01 a.m.
Luciano had also been critically injured in the crash. Luciano is charged for homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless endangerment, involuntary manslaughter and other related charges.
